Songs
of the Delmore Brothers
The Delmore Brothers, Alton and Rabon, performed together
since they were children, and were a significant influence among the "brother
duet" acts of the 1930's. They were distinguished by a swingier,
bluesier feel, hard edged close harmonies, and the distinctive combination
of a six string guitar and a four string tenor guitar, as opposed to the
mandolin/guitar duet favored by the Monroes, Bollicks, and Louvins.
